Around the country, the Republican Party is mounting legal challenges to keep third-party candidates off the ballot in November.
Writer Karl Dickey reports in the Examiner that “in recent weeks, with the full support and legal assistance of the Republican Party, [Gary] Johnson’s ballot status has been challenged in Michigan, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Iowa and now Ohio.” Gary Johnson (pictured) is the former governor of New Mexico and the Libertarian Party’s candidate for president of the United States. As of this writing, Johnson is on the ballot in 43 states.
On September 1 the Ohio voters challenging Johnson’s appearance on the November ballot officially withdrew their opposition. In the one-page notice filed with the office of Ohio’s Secretary of State, Kelly Mills and Cynthia Rees did not explain their decision to drop their protest.
It could be related to the decision of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals decision handed down on August 31 dismissing the Ohio state legislature’s appeal of a U.S. district court ruling putting the Libertarian Party on the ballot for 2012.
On August 31, a senior advisor to Johnson released a statement regarding the various efforts to block Libertarian ballot access:

The two-party system is probably the biggest long term problem the US faces. It blocks choice. Blocks innovation. Blocks….pretty much anything. Almost 90% of the world’s democracies operate proportional representation electoral systems and their legislatures have many parties elected….not just two. They can see clearly enough how bad a two-party system is…and they avoid it like the plague. Most Americans are completely unaware there is any other way to do politics than the broken, dysfunctional way America does it. It’s sad to watch the GOP actively undermining the democracy they claim to value and defend.
You’d have to be dumb to vote for them.

A two party system severely restrics the development and sharing of new ideas in lieu of the “party line”. Any argument made by a fellow American stating that most Americans are “dumb” while “they are not” precisely illustrates why two parties won a strong hold on American political system, government systems and media systems. We should give “most American’s” the benefit of the doubt and encourage them. American democracy overall is made weak when they are taught to beleive they are dumb, uninformed and apathetic. American democracy is made weak when people are taught to distrust the judgement of others.

First of all, it’s a ONE party system. Democrats and Repulicans are part of the same party.
